York Area Repertory of Dance (YARD) shone as the class of the competition, featuring tasteful, high-quality entries -- climaxed and epitomized by their fabulous rendition of Alice in Wonderland.

I shot this selection of photos primarily to document and celebrate the efforts of my grand daughters -- Jess, Cassidy, and Chloe Meyering; however, for the benefit of parents of the other younger performers, I shot others, as well. First, let me say that MANY of these shots are straight from the camera, unedited & uncropped. Second, while I DID use flash on many of these, I did so ONLY after seeing that the hired photographers were using a more obtrusive pre-flash/flash, on-camera combination, as were many in the audience; I used a controlled off-camera flash that fired only once with each shot. I watched carefully to see that this was not interfering with the performers and saw no evidence that it was. (I would even recommend that studios acquaint dancers with flash during rehearsals so that they learn to welcome it as an encouraging tribute that says, "You are worthy of both spotlight and strobe!"

While I am beginning work as a professional, I will gladly arrange printing of 4x6 photos at my cost ($3/photo, plus shipping to your home at $7.50 -- for any number of prints) for any that parents wish copies of; although, to meet my printer's minimum order requirement, I would need to order at least 6 at a time (so I might need to wait for others to place orders).
